Helen's Bookshelf, book reviews from YorkshireHi, I’m Helen, a Hufflepuff bookworm and book reviewer from Yorkshire!

I started this blog in December 2016 to share my opinions and thoughts on books I’ve been reading, hopefully to help others with similar tastes to me find new books to read.

I’ll read pretty much any genre, but my favourites are sci-fi and fantasy. Add in steam punk, adventures, magic, anything with robots or anything a bit odd and I’ll definitely read it. My guilty pleasure is daft romance books.

I’ve put fantasy and sci-fi in the tag for the blog and that’s mostly what I post here but I tend to sneak in reviews for other things I’ve been reading too!

Some of my favourite authors are China Mieville, Arthur C Clarke, Diane Wynn Jones, Cherie Priest, Alastair Reynolds, Margaret Atwood, and Agatha Christie.

I drink a lot of tea, and I also like knitting and crocheting – I’ve just started working on a big crochet blanket and I’m almost halfway through a massive oversized stripy jumper!

By day I’m a web developer, evenings I play roller derby for Wakey Wheeled Cats, and I spend a lot of time at the gym.  I like visiting art galleries and museums, and I’m a big Sci-Fi film fan. My favourite films are WALL-E, Tremors, and Alien.

I also review over on GoodReads.
