I had so much fun putting this playlist together! I’ve filled it with my favourite punk / rock songs by female artists and listening to it takes me back to my teenage years.
I’ve also added in a couple from the recent film. It was rubbish but had some good songs in there.
I’m only sad that I couldn’t find the original Jem and the Holograms songs on Spotify.
Wylding Hall is a book I reviewed a couple of days ago. It’s a spooky haunted house story about a folk-rock band that decamp to an old hall to make an album. Set in the 70s the book has a fantastic atmosphere, and the music is a big part of the book.
It’s just right for a Halloween month read, and I put together this playlist to make it even more atmospheric 🙂
If you have any suggestions for songs please comment below, I must admit I don’t know much about 70’s folk rock! Enjoy xx
I read the Martian recently, and one thing that stood out in it was the music.
Mark Watney is stranded on Mars, trying to survive, and the only music he has to listen to is the 70’s disco collection one of his teammates left behind.
This is a playlist I put together on Spotify inspired by the music mentioned in the book, and every time I listen to it I can picture Mark on Mars, boogying in the red, dust-covered landscape, eating his potatoes.
It’s release time for Feversong, book 9 in the MacKayla Lane urban fantasy Fever Series, written by Karen Moning. I read the first 8 books in this series last November, and I’ve been waiting eagerly for this next instalment to be released!
I’ll be downloading it this evening to start reading 🙂
This is a Fever series playlist I put together on Spotify to listen to while I read. It’s inspired by music mentioned in the books, and songs that I feel capture the atmosphere Moning creates.
